TSA Final Rule for HAZMAT Drivers License

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is issuing a final rule, Security Threat Assessment for Individuals Applying for a Hazardous Materials Endorsement for a Commercial Drivers License , which amends its Interim Final Rule (IFR) establishing security threat assessment standards for commercial drivers authorized to transport hazardous materials. TSA is changing the date on which fingerprint-based background checks must begin all states to January 31, 2005. TSA is making this change so that the states will have enough time to make changes to their existing commercial driver safety and testing programs to facilitate implementation. The final rule, 49 CFR Part 1572, may be accessed by visiting the TSA's Laws and Regulations web page at http://www.tsa.gov/public/display?theme=5
